More than 200,000 residents across the Marina Baixa region are now benefiting from improved intercity bus services following a major restructuring of routes by the Valencian Government.
The new public transport contract reorganises 20 bus lines and strengthens connections between towns where daily travel for work, healthcare, education and tourism is particularly high.
The updated network serves 202,817 residents in municipalities including L’Alfàs del Pi, Altea, La Nucía, Polop, Callosa d’en Sarrià, Finestrat, La Vila Joiosa, Relleu and Tàrbena, with direct links to Benidorm and the Marina Baixa Hospital.
Bus routes across the Marina Baixa
One of the key improvements is the launch of a direct bus line between Altea and Benidorm, cutting journey times from around one hour to just 45 minutes.
At Albir Beach, services will rise to 81 trips in each direction during the low season and up to 95 during the high season. In La Vila Joiosa, buses linking the town with Benidorm and the hospital will increase to 32 journeys in the low season and 42 in peak periods.
Finestrat also sees a major boost, with up to 60 daily trips to Rincón de Loix during the high season. The direct route to the Marina Baixa Hospital has been streamlined, avoiding previous detours and significantly reducing travel times.
Ticket prices
Ticket prices remain unchanged at €2 per journey, or €1.50 for regular users, and continue to include free transfers.
The new concession will operate a minimum fleet of 50 buses, covering around 3.1 million kilometres each year and providing more than 219,000 journeys annually.
Regional transport councillor Vicente Martínez Mus said the changes reflect a detailed analysis of local travel patterns carried out with town councils across the area.
“We have studied journey times, stops and real demand to offer a service that is more efficient and better adapted to people’s needs,” he explained.
