Alicante Elche Airport is continuing its steady expansion into one of its favourite markets, Germany.

Only a few weeks ago, Ryanair revealed two new summer routes to Saarbrucken, right by the French border, and to Friedrichshafen on the edge of Lake Constance.

Now another connection is returning after almost ten years away. Eurowings has announced that it will reinstate its route between Alicante-Elche Airport and the city of Hanover. The airline has already placed the flights on its booking site, so seats are ready to be booked.

Hanover, a city of more than half a million people, is the capital of Lower Saxony and sits in north central Germany. It has easy train links to Berlin and Hamburg, so travellers can move around without too much fuss. Eurowings will operate two flights a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, starting on 5 May 2026 for the busy summer season.

Alicante-Elche Airport to Hanover Airport: Flight details

On Tuesdays, flights will leave Alicante at 08.40 and arrive in Hanover at 11.40. On Saturdays, the flight will depart at 18.50 and land at 21.50. For the return journey, the Tuesday flight leaves Hanover at a rather early 05.00 and arrives in Alicante at 08.00. On Saturdays the departure is at 15.00 with arrival at 18.00.

This connection joins a wide range of German destinations already served from Alicante. These include Cologne, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Stuttgart and now Hanover once again, not to mention Prague. Eurowings is part of the Lufthansa Group, which has also announced several new additions for the coming summer season.

The group has expanded further with a new route to Vienna through Austrian Airlines, which will return to Alicante-Elche almost twenty years after its last visit. Swiss Airlines will also operate summer flights between Alicante and Geneva.

It seems the Costa Blanca is set for another busy season of German visitors, and quite a few Austrians and Swiss travellers as well!
