Calling all food lovers. If you enjoy traditional local dishes, Senija has something special on the festival menu.

The town will host the XIII Ruta de la Pilota de Putxero (Traditional Valencian Meatball Stew Festival)from 27 to 29 March.

This popular event carries extra significance this year after earning recognition as a Fiesta de Interés Turístico Local.

Over three days, Senija will celebrate its culinary heritage alongside live music, family activities and cultural events.

Friday starts with tradition

The programme begins on Friday 27 March at 18:00 with a hands-on workshop where visitors can learn how to make pilotes de putxero using the traditional local recipe.

Then, at 19:00, the Centro Social de Senija will host a talk by historian Joseph Moragues Santacreu titled “La población mallorquina en el siglo XVII: el caso de Senija”.

Markets, music and family fun

Saturday 28 March gets underway at 12:00 with the official opening of the route and a market showcasing traditional products. At the same time, visitors can enjoy a free tasting of pilotes de putxero.

Throughout the day, there will be plenty to see and do. There will be live music from Primavera Valenciana, while younger visitors can take part in a spice workshop. In addition, a children’s fair will offer games, archery and family-friendly activities.

Later in the afternoon, at 18:00, children can enjoy the show El Monstre Petorro by Paco Cholbi. Then, at 19:00, a wine and cheese tasting will take place. As places are limited, advance booking is required.

Finally, the day rounds off at 20:30 with a concert by the group Bèrnia.

Sunday brings more food and entertainment

The final day, Sunday 29 March, continues with the traditional market and a full programme of activities.

At 12:00, the Muixeranga de la Marina Alta will perform, bringing one of the region’s most striking traditions to life. Meanwhile, children can enjoy more activities and face painting.

Between 13:00 and 15:00, visitors can join a workshop on edible herbs led by Fernando Real. There will also be a vegetarian pilota tasting and a showcooking session of coca amb pilotes.

To close the event, comedian Óscar Tramoyeres will take to the stage at 17:00.
