The Fogueres Museum (MAPA) celebrates Alicante’s most famous festival, the Fogueres de Sant Joan.
It tells the story of the event from its beginnings in 1928 through old photographs, documents, traditional costumes, and figures saved from the flames.
In 1983, the festival was officially recognised as a Festival of International Tourist Interest.
Inside the museum, visitors can learn how the festival has changed and grown over time. One of the most striking parts of the collection is the display of the Ninots Indultats. These are large, colourful figures chosen by the public each year to be spared from burning. They are full of detail, which highlights the skills of local artists.
Entry to the museum is free, and is fully accessible to all visitors.
Opening Hours
From October to June, the museum is open from Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 and 13:30 and again from 17:00 to 19:30. On Saturdays and Sundays, it opens only in the morning from 10:00 to 13:30. It remains closed on Mondays.
In July and August, the schedule changes slightly. From Tuesday to Friday, it opens from 10:00 to 13:30 and then from 18:00 to 20:30. On Saturdays, it stays open only in the morning and closes on Sundays and Mondays.
In September, the hours return to the same as in spring, with the museum open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 and 13:30 and again from 17:00 to 19:30. On Saturdays, it opens only in the morning from 10:00 to 13:30. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The last entry is allowed up to 15 minutes before closing time.
