The Alicante Lenten Gastronomy Days have become one of the city’s most popular food events in the weeks leading up to Holy Week.
Since the initiative began, more than 9,000 Tapas Cofrades and special Lenten menus have been served across the city.
More restaurants and dishes in 2026 edition
The 2026 Alicante Lenten Gastronomy Days has seen strong growth, with more restaurants taking part and a wider range of dishes available across different neighbourhoods.
In total, participating venues are offering 35 tapas and dishes inspired by traditional recipes and Mediterranean cuisine. Many use local ingredients sourced from the sea and surrounding farmland.
Traditional Alicante dishes on the menu
The restaurant offers a special Friday menu inspired by traditional Alicante cuisine.
Dishes include:
- Beetroot alioli with rosemary tomato
- Tomato with pericana sauce and crumbs with cured cheese
- Cod salad with roe
- Melted camembert with vegetables and sweet tomato sauce
The main dish is rice with cod and vegetables, followed by a dessert of brioche torrija with dulce de leche.
Gastronomy days run until early April
The event will continue until 2 April, with many restaurants across Alicante
offering special menus on Fridays during Lent.

Visitors can vote for their favourite tapa
Several venues are also presenting creative versions of the Tapa Cofrade. Restaurants taking part include Nou Pinet, Pipirana Vermut, Chapeau San Juan, Cervecería Portabella, El Dragón Escamado and El Merengue.
Visitors can vote for their favourite tapa through the official event website.
Those who take part will be entered into prize draws, including:
- Gift cards for Alicante’s municipal markets
- A visit to Bodega Bocopa
- Hampers of local food products
The three restaurants receiving the most votes will also receive an official certificate recognising their culinary creations.
