The Costa Blanca is beginning to sparkle as Villena prepares to switch on its Christmas lights on Saturday, 29 November.

The main ceremony will start at 20.00 at the Puerta de Almansa, illuminating the Avenida de la Constitucion. Festivities will kick off much earlier, at 17.30, with the inaugural Royal Christmas Factory. Enjoy a series of family-friendly activities designed to get everyone in the Christmas mood.

Christmas in Villena: Ceremony changes

The Councilor for Festivals, Jose Ferri, highlighted the changes made to this year’s lighting ceremony. “We have moved the switch-on to a key location, the Puerta de Almansa. From here, I believe the lights along Avenida de la Constitucion will be more visible. Of course, the lights will reach many points throughout the city,” he said.

Ferri also announced that this year’s pre-Christmas events will feature activities for all ages, beginning in the early afternoon. The aim is to encourage everyone to fill the streets and enjoy time in the shops.

The Royal Christmas Factory

The Council has created a magical space to celebrate the start of Christmas. Children will be entertainmed by elves, stilt walkers, artisans, and acrobats as they take part in the opening of the Royal Christmas Factory.

The programme will include children’s workshops and face painting, while the Royal Postman and the Christmas Factory Worker will stroll through the area, interacting with visitors.

There will also be themed photo spots, including a Christmas Stitch corner and a Christmas Ball, perfect for capturing memories with friends and family.

Live music will play throughout the afternoon, and as soon as the lights are switched on, an artificial snow cannon will add a final touch of festive magic for everyone to enjoy an early white Christmas.
