Do you fancy discovering a few Alicante wines, then the Quintana Harvest Festival is the place to be! More than 40 wineries are coming into the heart of Alicante this Saturday for an afternoon of wine, food, music and local shopping.
The third Quintana Harvest Festival takes place on Saturday 19 September along Calle Poeta Quintana. Activities run from 11:00 to 17:00, with around 100 local businesses also joining the event.
Access to the shopping area is free, although visitors will need to buy tickets and a glass if they want to take part in the wine tastings.
More than 40 Alicante wineries
The event coincides with the grape harvest and brings together wineries linked to the DOP Alicante protected designation of origin.
Producers will travel from across Alicante province, including Villena, Monóvar, Petrer, Pinoso, Jalón, Teulada, Llíber, Salinas, Novelda, Crevillente, Cañada, Pedreguer, Denia, La Nucia, Guadalest, Algueña, San Juan de Alicante and Alfaz del Pi.
Among the wineries taking part are Bodegas Bocopa, Bodegas Enrique Mendoza, Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola, Bodegas Pinoso, Bodegas Jalón, Bodegas Francisco Gómez, Bodega Las Virtudes, Finca Collado and Bodegas y Viñedos Volver.
Les Freses, Celler Les Basses, Bodega Azorín, La Zafra and Casa Balaguer are also among the producers heading to Alicante.
Organisers expect to have more than 4,000 glasses available for the day.
Food, shopping and live music
There is more than wine on the programme. Calle Poeta Quintana will get a harvest-themed makeover, while participating shops will run promotions during the six-hour event.
Visitors can also expect food from local businesses and live music throughout the day.
Families have not been forgotten either. Children can have a go at traditional grape treading, while another workshop will show them how to make boats from corks.
How to join the wine tastings
Anyone simply wanting to wander along Poeta Quintana and enjoy the atmosphere can access the commercial area without charge.
Wine tasting works differently. Visitors need tasting tickets and a glass to sample the wines.
Advance tasting tickets are available until Friday 18 September from participating businesses on Calle Poeta Quintana.
