The Costa Blanca gateway, Alicante-Elche Airport, is gearing up for another busy summer, with easyJet returning with its seasonal base and more than 1.7 million seats planned between April and October.

The British airline, currently the second largest carrier at Alicante-Elche Airport, has reopened its summer base for the third consecutive year, once again operating with three aircraft throughout the peak season.

easyJet strengthens its Costa Blanca presence

easyJet has launched its summer programme with 1.7 million seats, representing a 1% increase compared to last summer. While growth is more modest this year, the airline is maintaining all its existing routes from summer 2025, reflecting continued demand rather than expansion through new destinations.

In total, easyJet will operate 22 routes from Alicante-Elche to destinations across Europe.

The busiest routes are expected to be:

  • London Gatwick
  • Manchester
  • Bristol

Following strong performance last year, the airline is also maintaining its Athens and Naples routes.

UK remains the key market

The United Kingdom remains easyJet’s biggest market from Alicante-Elche, with 12 routes connecting the Costa Blanca to British cities. France follows with four routes, while Switzerland has three connections.

The airline will also operate flights to:

  • Amsterdam
  • Prague
  • Athens
  • Naples

Continued growth at Alicante-Elche

easyJet first launched its seasonal base in Alicante in 2024, marking a significant investment in the Costa Blanca. Since then, the airline has continued to grow steadily.

In 2025, easyJet carried more than 2.23 million passengers at Alicante-Elche Airport, according to Aena figures. That places the airline second only to Ryanair, ahead of carriers such as Vueling and Jet2.

Three aircraft based in Alicante

This summer, easyJet will once again base three aircraft at Alicante-Elche, each capable of carrying more than 180 passengers.

Across Spain, easyJet currently operates 20 based aircraft, including:

  • Barcelona (4 year round aircraft)
  • Palma de Mallorca (9 aircraft)
  • Málaga (4 aircraft)
  • Alicante (3 seasonal aircraft)
