Torrevieja is rolling out the welcome mat for World Tourism Day, with three days of activities from Friday, 26 September, to Sunday, 28 September.

Think culture, nature, history, food and salt!

Friday 26 September – A gentle start to Torrevieja’s World Tourism Day

The celebrations begin with guided tours of the city centre at 10:00 and 11:00. They will be conducted in Spanish, English, and French. Registrations can be made at the Tourist Office, Paseo Vista Alegre s/n, Torrevieja in person, or by phone (+34) 965 703 433.

Saturday 27 September – The big one

Saturday is where things really liven up. Families can join the dramatised tour “The Salty History of the Lagoons” in La Mata Natural Park, 10:30–12:30. The tour is aimed at children aged 7–12 and is limited to 50 spots.

If museums are more your style, the Natural History Museum will open its doors for guided tours at 11:00 and 12:00.

For a dash of local flavour, there’s a special Salt Industry tour from 09:00–11:00. Tickets are just €6 (half-price) and no booking is needed. Meanwhile, the city’s museums will throw open their doors from 10:00–13:00, including the Floating Museums and the Sea and Salt Museum.

And, because no Spanish celebration is complete without food, it is also International Tapas Day in Torrevieja. Expect the local bars and restaurants to be on fine form; more details can be found at torreviejagastronomica.com.

Sunday 28 September – A stroll among vines and salt

The weekend winds down with the “Vineyards and Salt” ecotourism route in La Mata Natural Park, 10:00–13:30. You can register at the Tourist Office or online at turismodetorrevieja.com/ecorutas.
