Jazz takes over Torrevieja’s Palacio de la Música this autumn, with four Friday night concerts and tickets costing just £5 per performance.
Pau Viguer Trío, Power of Three, Saúl Jazz Band and Aranjuez Jazz Band make up this year’s Fridays at the Palace programme, running from 16 October to 13 November.
All four concerts start at 20:00, with tickets going on sale online at 12:00 today, Saturday 3 October.
Mediterranean influences open the series
Pau Viguer Trío kicks things off on Friday 16 October with contemporary jazz built around the group’s own compositions.
Led by Valencian pianist and composer Pau Viguer, the trio mixes jazz with influences from classical music, pop, blues and flamenco.
The group was selected for the JazzEñe 2017 showcase, organised by Fundación SGAE, with its work Muy delicado.
Power of Three takes over on 23 October
The second concert brings Power of Three to the Palacio de la Música on Friday 23 October.
The group promises a performance centred on energetic playing and musicianship, providing a different take on jazz from the opening concert.
It will be followed one week later by another change in direction.
Back to the jazz classics
Saúl Jazz Band performs on Friday 30 October, with a programme drawing on classic jazz standards.
Expect a more traditional journey through the genre, with familiar jazz sounds, melodies and plenty of rhythm.
The final performance then comes after a two-week break.
Jazz meets flamenco and Latin influences
Aranjuez Jazz Band closes Viernes de Palacio on Friday 13 November.
Formed in Aranjuez in 2020, the band brings together musicians with backgrounds ranging from classical music and flamenco to big bands and modern jazz.
Its repertoire starts with traditional jazz but ventures into other territory, including Latin jazz and flamenco.

Each concert takes place at Torrevieja’s Palacio de la Música and starts at 20:00.
Tickets cost €5 per concert and go on sale exclusively online from 12:00 today, Saturday 3 October.
Organisers recommend booking early because capacity at the venue is limited.
