Developers plan to build 30 new hotels across the province, highlighting growing confidence in the Costa Blanca hotel sector, according to a new industry report.
The developments reflect strong investor confidence as Alicante-Elche Airport continues to break passenger records and tourism demand remains high.
The projects represent almost half of all the hotel developments currently in the pipeline across the Valencian Community, reinforcing the Costa Blanca’s position as one of Spain’s fastest-growing tourism destinations.
Nearly 2,750 new hotel rooms planned
The figures come from The Hotel Property Telescope 2026, published by consultancy EY-Parthenon.
The report identifies 67 hotel projects across the Valencian Community, which together will add 5,343 new hotel rooms.
Developers are planning 30 of those projects in Alicante province, creating 2,740 additional rooms. Alicante province currently offers around 39,900 hotel rooms across 639 establishments, so the new developments will increase accommodation capacity by almost 7%.
Valencia province has 29 hotel projects in the pipeline that will add 2,228 rooms, while Castellón has eight developments that will provide another 375 rooms.
Luxury hotels drive new investment
Developers are directing much of their investment towards the luxury market as they target visitors looking for premium accommodation.
Four and five-star hotels make up more than half of the planned developments across the Valencian Community, with 35 of the 67 projects falling into those categories. Together, they will provide 3,505 new rooms, almost two-thirds of all the accommodation being added.
The report also identifies 10 new five-star hotels that will contribute another 567 rooms as demand continues to grow for high-end travel experiences across the Costa Blanca and surrounding regions.
Existing hotels: Major upgrades
Developers are investing in more than just new hotel construction.
The report identifies 11 hotel refurbishment projects across the Valencian Community, covering 1,256 rooms. Alicante province accounts for six of those projects, where contractors will renovate 779 hotel rooms.
The refurbishment work will modernise facilities, improve the guest experience, introduce more sustainable features and help hotels compete in higher-value tourism markets.
Quality over quantity
According to EY-Parthenon, the hotel industry is entering a new phase where quality, sustainability and differentiation will play an increasingly important role.
Rather than simply increasing accommodation capacity, hotel operators are investing in higher-quality facilities and better visitor experiences to strengthen the long-term competitiveness of the Costa Blanca, Alicante province and the wider Valencian Community as leading Mediterranean tourism destinations.
