Photographers can once again capture one of Elche’s best-loved natural spaces as entries open for the eighth PhotoClot photography competition.
This year’s contest is under the theme “Summer at El Clot: Light and Landscape”. The competition invites both amateur and professional photographers to showcase the beauty of the El Clot de Galvany nature reserve during the summer months.
As in previous years, organisers will include a selection of the winning and shortlisted images in a travelling exhibition that will visit social and educational centres across Elche.
How to enter
Participants can submit entries until 22 September through the official El Clot
de Galvany website, as well as via Instagram, Facebook and X.
Each photographer may enter up to five images.
Photographs should reflect this year’s theme by highlighting the relationship between natural light and the landscapes of the reserve.
Entrants may make basic edits, including adjustments to brightness, contrast and sharpness. However, organisers will not accept photo montages or images created using artificial intelligence.
Cash prizes on offer
The competition offers three cash prizes.
The overall winner will receive €625, while the runner-up will collect €250. The public will decide the third prize of €100 through an online vote.
Councillor for the Environment José Antonio Román said the competition aims to create an exhibition that offers an authentic interpretation of El Clot de Galvany through the eyes of the people who visit it.
Building on a summer of art
The competition follows the recent launch of the sixth Cuadernos Viajeros, an illustrated publication dedicated to El Clot de Galvany.
The book features work from 41 artists who spent months exploring the reserve, creating sketches and drawings that capture its landscapes, wildlife and natural beauty from a variety of artistic perspectives.
