Parking in Benidorm is about to get a whole lot easier. Improvement works on the park-and-ride car park on Avenida Beniardá are moving along on schedule, with the upgraded facility expected to open before the end of June.
The project covers around 17,244 square metres, with just over 15,000 square metres set aside specifically for parking. Once finished, the site will offer 360 spaces, making it a far more organised and user-friendly area for drivers.
Preparations are also being made for the future installation of electric vehicle charging points, with infrastructure already being laid beneath the surface. A new pedestrian walkway will run around the perimeter of the car park to improve access and safety.
Parking in Benidorm
Mayor Toni Pérez said the project reflects the council’s ongoing commitment to increasing free public parking in the town.
“We continue to invest in something that is very important for this local government: improving the supply of public and free parking.
The aim is to properly organise a space already widely used by residents and visitors as a park-and-ride facility, helping to cut down the number of cars circulating in Benidorm’s urban centre.
As part of the works, slopes are being adjusted and sustainable drainage systems installed to manage rainwater more effectively.
The resurfacing plan includes:
- traffic lanes and clearly marked parking bays
- green areas and landscaped zones
- pedestrian walkways and accessible routes for people with reduced mobility
- new lighting and electrical infrastructure
- drainage and irrigation systems
- signage, safety features, bollards and vehicle counting systems
When fully completed, total capacity is expected to approach 500 vehicles, including dedicated spaces for disabled users and family parking.
Parking still available during works
Despite the construction, parking has remained available throughout the project. Drivers have been redirected to a neighbouring plot with room for around 500 cars, which will continue to operate even after the upgraded car park opens.
