Those looking forward to the Three Kings Parade in La Zenia will need to wait an extra day. Owing to the weather forecast, the decision has been taken to postpone it until Tuesday, 6 January.
Three Kings Parade La Zenia: New Route
The festivities will begin at 5:00pm, but will follow a new route than that previously advertised. It is now planned to depart from the outdoor car park at La Zenia Boulevard (Armengola/Norauto entrance). Their Majesties, the Three Kings, will then hold a reception at Orihuela Costa Town Hall, where they will share a final moment with the children before continuing on their journey.
For those unfamiliar, the Three Kings Parade takes place all over the Costa Blanca and other parts of Spain. It celebrates the religious journey of the Magi (the three kings) who visited Jesus in Bethlehem shortly after his birth, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Three Kings Parade: What to expect
La Zenia is known for putting on an incredible parade, and this year is sure to be no exception. Expect a vibrant procession of beautifully decorated floats for the Wise Men – Gaspar, Balthasar, and Melchoir. Not only that, they are likely to be accompanied by talented performers in colourful costumes, marching bands, and amazing dancers, all adding to the lively atmosphere the Costa Blanca is known for.
An economic boost for Orihuela Costa
It is no wonder that visitors from all across Spain are expected to come along. Of course, aside from the cultural and community aspects, the Parade undoubtedly provides an economic upside as well. Traditionally a low point in the tourist season, the increased footfall is sure to give a welcome boost to local hotels, bars and restaurants.
