Orihuela is set to welcome the return of “Conciertos de los Jueves”. A series of free live music concerts taking place on Thursdays throughout April and May in Plaza de San Sebastián.

The initiative, organised by Orihuela Town Hall in collaboration with the Universidad Miguel Hernández (UMH), aims to bring culture, music and student life into the heart of the city.

Orihuela free concerts: Open to everyone

The concerts will take place every Thursday at 19:30 in Plaza de San Sebastián.

Although primarily aimed at university students, the events are open to the general public and completely free.

Susi Amorós, Vice-Rector for Culture and Equality at UMH, said the concerts are just the beginning of a broader cultural programme.

“These activities are just to get started. From autumn onwards, we plan to bring even more cultural events including theatre, dance and classical music,” she explained.

 

Concert programme

The musical line up includes a mix of styles, with rock taking centre stage:

  • 16 April – Olla Viuda
  • 23 April – Bandiru
  • 7 May – Trompas de Elefante
  • 14 May – Peet Fighting Murphy
  • 21 May – Cóctel Flamenco

A boost for culture

Councillor, Vicente Pina, highlighted the importance of continuing collaboration with the university, describing the concerts as “an important project for the city, the municipality, the university and above all for students.”

The initiative also aims to encourage students from Orihuela, Elche and other UMH campuses to visit the city, explore its heritage and enjoy its cultural and commercial offering.

“These activities help strengthen Orihuela as a meeting point, especially for young people and university students,” Pina explained.
