The natural side of Petrer is taking centre stage in 2026. Discover the new tourism initiative titled “Petrer in Green: Routes and Landscapes at Your Feet.”

The programme is designed to help residents and visitors discover some of the town’s most scenic surroundings through guided hiking routes combined with hands-on workshops.

Petrer’s routes for 2026

This first edition features five carefully selected outings:

22 February – La Velleta
A circular route around La Velleta, including macramé plant-pot making and chromatography workshops.

15 March – Xorret de Catí
A hike through Xorret de Catí, focusing on the history of water use and traditional pastoral life.

14 June – El Arenal
An educational route in El Arenal Petrer, exploring the town’s characteristic soils and geology.

20 September – Xorret de Catí (circular route)
A second visit to Xorret de Catí featuring an orienteering activity at emblematic locations.

15 November – Rabosa
The programme concludes with a circular walk around Rabosa Petrer, learning about local plants, mountain life and historical uses of the landscape.

Self-guided routes

Alongside the guided activities, Petrer’s Tourist Information Office has produced a leaflet featuring six signposted routes that can be followed independently at any time, complete with recommendations for walkers.

Bringing nature into Petrer

Tourism councillor David Morcillo explained that the initiative responds to “an outstanding debt in local tourism linked to nature.” He added that many people already travel to Petrer independently to enjoy its mountains and hiking routes.
