El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is reviving one of its most popular and approachable initiatives, “Have a Coffee with Your Mayor”.
The informal meetings give residents the chance to sit down with Mayor Miguel Ángel García and discuss any local issue, from everyday concerns to major municipal projects.
In previous years, the council organised sessions by language, holding separate meetings in Valencian, Spanish and English. Now, it will arrange them by neighbourhood and residential area, so residents can focus on the specific needs of their part of the municipality.
Have Coffee with the Mayor: Fridays in Benitatxell
All meetings will take place on Fridays at 10.00 in the Town Hall plenary chamber on Calle Mayor.
The session, on 27 February, will bring together residents from Les Fonts, Los Molinos and Racó de Nadal will attend. The meeting on 13 March, will focus on the town centre and nearby areas.
Places are limited to keep discussions productive. Anyone who wishes to attend must register in advance by emailing alcaldia@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.com.
Since the scheme began in 2021, the council has held more than 20 of these coffee meetings. They have become an important channel for direct communication between residents and the council.
Mayor García describes the format as one of the most effective ways to govern. He believes that listening in person to those who live in the municipality each day remains the best way to understand local needs. He adds that the sessions help the council identify real problems quickly and respond more effectively.
