Torrevieja has begun 2026 with a population milestone. According to official figures, the city is now home to 110,500 registered residents, an increase of 4,150 people compared with the start of 2025.

This steady rise confirms Torrevieja’s position as one of the fastest-growing population centres in the Valencian Community and highlights its ongoing appeal as a place to live, work and settle long term.

The population is almost perfectly balanced, with 54,548 men (49.36%) and 55,952 women (50.64%). These figures are very similar to last year’s breakdown, suggesting the town’s growth is stable and structural rather than the result of short-term fluctuations.

Torrevieja’s international population

While the Spanish population has grown modestly, rising by 335 people to 51,295 residents, the most significant increase has come from the international community.

The number of foreign residents has jumped from 55,390 to 59,205, an increase of 3,815 people in just one year. Torrevieja remains one of Spain’s most international cities, with residents from 123 different countries spread across all five continents.

This diversity continues to shape the city’s identity as an open, multicultural community with a strong international character.

Ukrainian Community

One of the standout trends this year is the continued growth of the Ukrainian community, which has strengthened its position as Torrevieja’s largest foreign nationality. The number of Ukrainian residents has risen from 9,512 to 10,074, an increase of 562 people in a single year.

Other major communities show mixed but generally positive trends:

  • Russia: a slight decrease from 5,926 to 5,746 residents
  • Colombia: strong growth from 5,141 to 5,550
  • United Kingdom: a small dip from 4,708 to 4,643, while remaining a key community
  • Morocco: notable growth from 2,961 to 3,525 residents

Northern and Central Europe

European communities continue to show stability and gradual growth, reinforcing Torrevieja’s popularity as a long-term residential destination:

  • Sweden: 1,921 residents
  • Romania: 1,767
  • Belgium: 1,637
  • Italy: 1,390
  • Germany: 1,313
  • Poland: 1,320

Latin America’s dynamic growth

Latin American communities are among the fastest-growing groups in the town:

  • Brazil: 917 residents
  • Argentina: 854
  • Venezuela: 899
  • Peru: around 400

These populations are largely of working age and play an increasingly important role in the local economy and community life.

Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa

Although smaller in number, residents from Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa continue to grow steadily. China, with around 950 residents, remains the largest Asian community. Senegal (410) and Nigeria (112) stand out among African nationalities, adding further diversity to the city.

Torrevieja’s population structure

Torrevieja’s population pyramid paints a positive picture. More than half of residents fall between the ages of 30 and 69, creating a strong base of working-age adults.

The largest age groups include:

  • 40 to 49 years: 17,067 residents
  • 50 to 59 years: 16,359
  • 30 to 39 years: 14,480
  • 60 to 69 years: 13,851

At the same time, the city has a solid younger population. More than 31,800 residents are under 30, ensuring ongoing demand for schools, sports facilities and youth services.

Longer lives and active ageing

The figures also reflect high life expectancy. There are 10,955 residents aged 70 to 79, and 5,076 people aged 80 to 89, with women making up the majority in older age groups. Torrevieja is even home to nine centenarians, a sign of active ageing and good quality of life.
