Elche is getting ready to welcome one of its most anticipated cultural events of the year with the fourth Calendureta Ibero-American Festival of Puppet, Object and Visual Theatre, taking place from 14 to 30 April.
Over more than two weeks, the city will transform into a stage for the performing arts. With a strong focus on Ibero-American culture, the festival continues to strengthen its reputation as an important event on the international cultural calendar.
43 performances from around the world
This year’s event will feature 43 performances by renowned companies from across the globe. In particular, artists from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Portugal and Germany will present a wide range of productions.
These performances will include:
- Traditional puppet theatre
- Contemporary object theatre
- Visual and experimental performances
- Family friendly shows and productions for adults
Performances across Elche
The festival’s main venue will once again be Sala La Carreta in Elche. However, the programme will also extend beyond traditional theatre spaces.
The festival aims to bring theatre directly to the community while making culture more accessible and inclusive.
Festival expands to other towns
One of the major highlights of this year’s edition is the festival’s expansion beyond Elche. In addition, several nearby towns and cities will host
performances, including:

- Valencia
- Alicante
- Molina del Segura
- Murcia
Calendureta continues to grow as both a regional and national cultural event.
