Alicante-Elche Airport is adding more flights to Germany in its ever-growing expansion.
The Airport is preparing for what could be a record-breaking summer season on the Costa Blanca, with airlines increasing flights and adding new connections ahead of the busy tourist months.
Several airlines, including Ryanair, have announced more frequencies between April and October, along with two new routes to Germany, one of the most important visitor markets for Alicante and the Costa Blanca.
Germany remains a key market
Tourists from Germany continue to play a major role in the region’s tourism industry.
According to figures from Aena, more than 1.24 million German passengers travelled through Alicante Airport in 2025, accounting for 10.6% of all international travellers.
The trend is continuing into 2026. During the first month of the year alone, 65,543 passengers arrived from Germany, an increase of 6.6% compared with the same period in 2025.
This strong demand is one of the reasons why local tourism authorities have been promoting the Costa Blanca at major international tourism events such as ITB Berlin, one of Europe’s largest travel fairs.
Alicante-Elche Airport: More flights to Germany
With the addition of new routes, the Costa Blanca will now be connected to 16 German cities, the highest number ever.
New routes include:
- Hannover (operated by Eurowings)
- Friedrichshafen (Ryanair)
- Saarbrücken (Ryanair)
These join existing connections with major German hubs including:
- Cologne
- Düsseldorf
- Stuttgart
- Berlin
- Bremen
- Karlsruhe
- Memmingen
- Munich
- Münster
- Nuremberg
- Hamburg
- Frankfurt
- Paderborn
Altogether, more than 20 German airports will be connected to Alicante during the summer season, making the Costa Blanca one of the main entry points for German tourists visiting Spain and the Mediterranean.
Cologne and Weeze lead passenger numbers
During 2025, German travellers arriving in Alicante were spread across 15 different airports, with some routes proving particularly popular.
The busiest routes were:
- Cologne – around 180,000 passengers
- Weeze – 137,504 passengers
- Karlsruhe-Baden – 122,943 passengers
- Düsseldorf – 111,522 passengers
- Munich – 101,634 passengers
These connections highlight the growing importance of the German market for tourism, property buyers and long-term visitors across the Costa Blanca.

Return flights depart Saarbrücken at 22:00 on Thursdays and 10:05 on Sundays.
Friedrichshafen route
Friedrichshafen, located on the northern shore of Lake Constance, will begin on 1 April 2026 and operate during the summer season.
