If you are looking for a day of fun and homemade cars hurtling down the street, Petrer’s Autos Locos is just the ticket.

Petrer is getting ready for one of its liveliest days, the 13th Autos Locos (Crazy Cars) race on 20 September. This year has already broken records, with 14 teams signed up, compared to eight last year.

Festival councillor Alejandro Ruiz called it “an unmissable event” that keeps growing in creativity and popularity.

Crazy Cars: Programme of events

  • 12:00 – Team reception and car exhibition at Jardines Alcalde Vicente Maestre, with a bar service.
  • 14:30 – Communal meal for organisers, volunteers and participants.
  • 17:00 – The races begin on Calle Leopoldo Pardines, with all 14 teams taking part.
  • 20:00 – Awards ceremony.
  • 23:00 – Evening festival with music from the Dr. Jekyll Orchestra, carrying on late into the night.

Crazy Cars: Music and extras

This year brings more live music: The Acoustic Band will play in the morning and again before the races, while a DJ will liven up the awards.

Food-wise, a gourmet burger truck will set up on Paseo de la Explanada.

Most teams are from Petrer (around 60–65%), but others will arrive from Elda, Novelda, Elche, Bañeres de Mariola, and even as far afield as Latvia and Lithuania.
