The Camí al Far de l’Albir, also known as the Albir Lighthouse Trail, has added another accolade to its long list of achievements.
The walk has held the prestigious Blue Trail award every year since 2013. It has now also received a special mention from ADEAC for achieving the highest score in the 2026 edition.
This recognition reflects more than just its scenic beauty. It also highlights the trail’s accessibility, environmental management and educational value.
Albir Lighthouse Trail: Suitable for all
The route is one of the easiest on the Costa Blanca.
It is fully paved and free from traffic, making it suitable for wheelchair users, pushchairs and walkers of all ages.
The gentle path climbs gradually towards Punta Bombarda, on the northern edge of the Serra Gelada Natural Park. Along the way, it offers amazing views across the Bay of Altea, the Serra de Bèrnia and the cliffs of Serra Gelada.
The walk begins at the Albir Information Point, where there is a large car park. However, it often fills up quickly at weekends. From there, the 2.5-kilometre route rises steadily uphill. It passes through a short tunnel and several panoramic viewpoints, which are linked by small side paths and steps.
Blue Trail Network
The full walk is approximately five kilometres return and takes around an hour and a half at a relaxed pace. Most visitors take longer, spending time enjoying the viewpoints.
The Albir Lighthouse Trail forms part of the Valencian Community’s Blue Trails Network and is the second most visited route in the regional Natural Areas Network.
In 2025, it recorded an estimated 314,608 visitors, although the true figure may be higher due to the absence of a permanent automated counting system.
A municipality rich in distinctions
With this latest honour, Alfaz del Pi now holds eight environmental distinctions, including Blue Flags, Blue Trails and Blue Centres.
The town is also home to six recognised Blue Centres, the highest number in Europe.
