Torrevieja is once again opening the door to its natural side in 2026. Tourists and residents can enjoy a full calendar of free guided walks in both Spanish and English.
The programme will run until November, offering themed walks and nature experiences inside the La Mata and Torrevieja Lagoons Natural Park and the Molino del Agua Municipal Natural Area.
The routes are suitable for all ages, completely free of charge, and available in both Spanish and English. Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
Torrevieja: Free guided walks
Discovering the dunes at Molino del Agua
Alongside the lagoon routes, the park also offers guided visits in the Molino del Agua Municipal Natural Area in La Mata.
This protected space preserves part of the dune systems that once stretched along much of the Alicante coast. Walks explore native vegetation, coastal ecology and a replica of the historic freshwater mill that salt workers once used, giving visitors insight into how people survived and worked in this harsh coastal environment.
Each visit lasts around 90 minutes.
When and how often the routes run
In the La Mata Natural Park, daytime routes operate from October to June,
usually twice a month on Saturdays or Sundays, running from 10:00 to 13:30.
The summer night hikes take place in July and August, typically on Mondays and Fridays, from 20:00 to 23:30.
At Molino del Agua, routes are offered on selected days with two sessions, one at 10:00 and another at midday.
Group sizes are capped at 50 people in the Natural Park and 25 per session at Molino del Agua.
How to book
Places can be reserved up to three weeks in advance:
- Online at turismodetorrevieja.com
- By phone through the Municipal Tourist Office on +34 96 570 34 33
- In person at the Tourist Office on Paseo Vista Alegre, next to the Royal Yacht Club

Organisers have designed the 2026 programme around several themed routes instead of offering a single visit. Each route highlights a different part of Torrevieja’s natural heritage.
