Elda is preparing for the return of its popular Moros y Cristianos market, known locally as the “Zoco”, with five days of shopping, food and fiesta fun planned from 28 May to 1 June.

Once again, the market will take over the area around Plaza de la Concordia and is expected to become one of the busiest attractions during the town’s famous Moors and Christians celebrations.

Shopping, crafts and international stalls

This year’s edition will feature 76 stalls selling:

  • Crafts
  • Fashion and accessories
  • Jewellery
  • Gifts
  • Traditional Spanish products
  • International artisan goods

Visitors will also find handmade items from countries including Ecuador, Senegal and Egypt, adding an international flavour.

Food takes centre stage too

As always, food will play a major role throughout the event.

Festivalgoers will be able to enjoy:

  • Burgers
  • Waffles
  • Churros
  • Pizzas
  • Roasted potatoes
  • Cured meats
  • Ice cream
  • Other street food favourites

Meanwhile, organisers are once again decorating the Zoco with colourful ribbons, flowers and bright displays inspired by the Moros y Cristianos festivities.

Opening hours and practical information

The market will operate on the following schedule:

  • Thursday 28 May: 19:00 to 02:00
  • Friday to Sunday: 10:00 to 02:00
  • Monday 1 June: closing at 23:00

In addition, organisers have confirmed extra facilities including security, surveillance and portable toilets throughout the event.

Elda Town Hall has also announced special opening hours for local markets during the fiesta period.

Furthermore, access to the Mercado Central car park will temporarily change from Friday 29 May because of activities taking place in the town centre.
