Hotels in Benidorm came close to full capacity during the first half of August, with international visitors helping the resort achieve one of the strongest occupancy rates in the Valencian Community.

Hotels in Benidorm recorded 93.1% occupancy during the first 15 days of the month, according to figures from regional hotel association Hosbec.

Spanish visitors remained the largest market, accounting for 40% of hotel guests, while British holidaymakers represented 30.4%.

Together, the two nationalities accounted for more than seven out of every ten hotel guests staying in Benidorm.

The wider Costa Blanca also enjoyed a strong start to August, with hotel occupancy reaching 92.1%.

British tourists account for three in ten Benidorm hotel guests

Benidorm’s 93.1% occupancy represents an increase compared with the previous month, helped by strong international demand during the peak summer holiday period.

Spanish tourists accounted for 40% of guests, followed by visitors from the UK at 30.4%.

Portugal, France and Romania were also among the important international markets during the first half of August.

The figures underline the continuing importance of British tourism to Benidorm, with UK visitors alone accounting for almost one in every three people staying in the resort’s hotels.

Costa Blanca hotels reach 92.1% occupancy in August

Across the wider Costa Blanca, hotels recorded occupancy of 92.1% between 1 and 15 August.

Domestic tourism played an even greater role outside Benidorm, with Spanish visitors accounting for 60% of hotel guests. That was almost two percentage points higher than during the same period in 2025.

British visitors represented 10% of guests, making the UK the largest international market.

France followed with 4.9%, while visitors from the Netherlands accounted for 3.7%.

Hosbec also reported falls in the number of visitors from Belgium, Norway and Ireland, although growth in other key markets helped compensate for those declines.

Alicante Sur sees one of the biggest increases

Hotels in the Alicante Sur area also enjoyed a particularly strong fortnight, with around 93 out of every 100 beds occupied.

Occupancy increased by 4.6 percentage points compared with the first half of August 2025, making it one of the strongest year-on-year improvements.

Spanish visitors accounted for 65% of hotel guests in the area, almost six percentage points more than last year.

British and French tourists were among the main international markets.

Hotels show strong bookings for the rest of August

Early reservations suggest hotels are heading towards another busy second half of the month.

Bookings already represent occupancy of 83.6% in Alicante Sur and 81.7% across the Costa Blanca.

Benidorm is further ahead, with reservations indicating occupancy above 89%.

Those figures do not include all of the last-minute bookings that could arrive before the end of August, leaving room for occupancy to climb further.

Hosbec said both the Costa Blanca and Alicante Sur are heading into the final stretch of August with solid prospects.

For Benidorm, meanwhile, there are not many empty hotel rooms left to play with.
