Santa Pola will light up the Costa Blanca coastline again this summer as Llums de la Mar returns.

The popular event combines fireworks, music and seaside performances to mark the start of the summer season.

Santa Pola confirms bigger display

The town council confirmed the return of the piroaquatic show after strong public interest following last year’s debut event.

Councillor for Fiestas Nely Baile said the celebration aims to welcome summer and bring people together across the town.

Levante Beach will once again host the main fireworks display, while music and dance performances will take place in the Glorieta area.

Music and dance

The celebrations will begin on Friday 29 May at 20:30 with the performance “Aire y Punto” by the Inmaculada Jaén Dance School.

On Saturday night, Orchestra Séptima Avenida will perform live music from 22:00 until 02:30.

The orchestra will pause briefly during the main fireworks display between 23:30 and 24:30.

Fireworks increase by 20%

Pyrotechnics company Pirotecnia Turis will return to Santa Pola after last year’s successful show.

The company plans to increase the amount of gunpowder used by 20% this year.

The display will use around 1,200 kilos of pyrotechnic material during a twenty-minute performance across the sea and skyline.

Company representative Vicente Albarranch said organisers want to surpass last year’s event with a combination of traditional fireworks and modern visual effects.

Tourism numbers rise

According to Tourism Santa Pola, visitor numbers in May 2025 increased by 23.7% compared with the previous year.

Officials reported strong growth from both Spanish and international tourists, especially visitors from the UK, Scandinavia, France and Germany.

Tourism spending in Santa Pola during May exceeded €1.47 million.
