Good news if you are heading to the coast over Easter. Beaches in Alicante are already set up and ready for the Semana Santa rush, with services now up and running across the city’s main playas.
Visitors can expect lifeguards, beach bars, sunbeds, umbrellas and extra cleaning, all in place ahead of the busy holiday period.
Busy Easter expected in Alicante
The outlook for Alicante looks strong. Hotel occupancy is expected to reach around 89%, based on figures from APHA (Provincial Association of Alicante Hotels).
With both international and Spanish visitors arriving, and good weather forecast, the city is preparing for a busy Semana Santa. Many visitors are expected to enjoy not just the beaches, but also the city’s traditions and processions.
Alicante beaches: Lifeguards already on duty
The lifeguard service has already started and is operating across all beach first aid points. The service will continue daily until Easter Monday.
It will also run on Santa Faz (April 16) between 11:00 and 19:00.
Beach bars and facilities now open
The chiringuitos are already open at:
- El Postiguet
- Urbanova
- La Albufereta
These beaches are now moving into mid and high season. At Playa de San Juan, the chiringuitos will open from 1 May.
Sunbeds and umbrellas are already available across all beaches, and lockers at El Postiguet are also open.
Easier access to the beach
There is also a small improvement this year that many visitors will appreciate. The final sections of the beach pasarelas (walkways) have been upgraded across all arenales.
The walkways were removed during the winter to avoid storm damage and have now been fully reinstalled. The new design includes small ramps at the end, making access easier and more comfortable, especially for anyone with reduced mobility.
