If you are dreaming of a place in the sun, chances are your real estate search will take you to the Costa Blanca.

The province has become the epicentre of international property demand, according to figures from property site Idealista. In the second quarter of 2025, a full 33.2% of all foreign searches for homes in Spain were centred on Alicante. That puts it ahead of the Balearic Islands (31.5%) and Malaga (27.1%), two of its fiercest rivals.

Costa Blanca real estate: Who’s looking?

The Costa Blanca’s beaches, weather and lifestyle continue to lure buyers from across Europe. The Dutch are now leading the way, making up 19% of those browsing homes in the province. Germans follow with 12%, while the British, once undisputed kings of the Spanish property market, now account for 11%.

It seems the Brits’ long love affair with the Costa Blanca is still going strong, just not quite as dominant as it once was.

The interest is not confined to Alicante. Across the country, foreigners bought almost 93,000 homes in 2024, accounting for 14.6% of all transactions. Early signs suggest 2025 will follow the same pattern, with strong demand especially along the Levantine coast and in the islands. The Spanish property market, long seen as a safe investment, continues to offer both lifestyle and returns.

Alicante’s appeal is no accident. Reliable sunshine, easy flight connections, a slower pace of life and lower prices than in the Balearics or Malaga. These all make it a clear favourite for second homes, investment properties or even a full relocation.

Looking ahead

All signs suggest Alicante will keep its crown in the coming years. As demand grows and more nationalities join the mix, the province is carving out a reputation not only as a holiday hotspot but also as a serious place to invest and settle. For many, it is not just a summer escape; it is home.
