Costa Blanca ITV queues are back: Book yours now! Image by Julio César Velásquez Mejía from Pixabay.

If your ITV inspection is due soon on the Costa Blanca, now may be the time to book it.

As summer approaches, several vehicle inspection stations across Alicante province are filling up again. Some drivers already face waits of more than 45 days for an appointment.

Three ITV stations already fully booked

The longest delays currently affect the ITV centres in Benidorm, Ondara and Novelda. None of them currently have appointments available over the next month and a half.

Demand usually rises at this time of year as tourist numbers increase ahead of the busy summer season, especially in coastal areas.

Other stations still have availability

Not every ITV station is experiencing long waits yet.

Drivers can still book appointments within 30 days at stations including:

  • Alicante
  • Elche
  • Alcoy
  • Orihuela
  • Redován
  • Villena
  • Torrevieja
  • Pilar de la Horadada

Staffing problems continue

The ITV network in the Valencian Community has faced disruption since public company Sitval took over management under the previous regional government.

Since then, the system has dealt with strikes, staffing disputes and efforts to improve service through salary reviews and new recruitment.

Although the situation has improved compared to previous years, the network has not fully returned to normal.

Authorities are still waiting for the recruitment of 73 new employees across the Valencian Community. Officials announced the process months ago, but they have not confirmed when the new staff will start work.

The goal is to strengthen the service before the summer rush begins. Once recruitment finishes, Sitval’s workforce across the region will exceed 1,000 employees.
