Alicante Airport is getting another boost for summer 2027, this time with extra TUI flights bringing more travellers from Belgium to the Costa Blanca.
TUI Airline has included Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport in a wider expansion of its European network for next summer, with additional services planned between Belgium and Alicante.
There is one detail still missing, however. TUI has not yet announced how many extra Alicante flights it will operate or which Belgian airports they will use.
More Belgian flights to Alicante
TUI plans to increase capacity from Belgium to several Spanish destinations for summer 2027.
Alongside Alicante, the airline will add services to Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca and Reus.
For the Costa Blanca, the announcement confirms additional Belgian capacity rather than a completely new route. Full schedules will reveal just how significant the increase will be.
It comes as Alicante Airport continues to expand its year-round and seasonal connections across Europe.
TUI adds more Spanish destinations from Gatwick
Spain features prominently elsewhere in TUI’s summer expansion.
From London Gatwick, the airline will launch new routes to Santiago de Compostela, Seville and Valencia.
Those form part of eight new Gatwick connections for summer 2027, alongside Athens, Palermo, Tangier, Djerba and Mytilene.
The expansion will take TUI’s Gatwick network to 59 destinations.
There is no new Gatwick-Alicante route in this announcement, so the specific Alicante increase relates to the Belgian market.
Malaga gets new links with Germany
TUI is also expanding its Spanish network from Germany.
New flights will connect Malaga with Düsseldorf and Hannover, while Tenerife South will receive additional capacity compared with summer 2026.
Elsewhere in the German network, TUI plans new Düsseldorf services to Ljubljana, Naples and Venice, plus a Hannover-Olbia route.
17 million seats planned for summer
The scale of TUI’s wider expansion is considerable.
The airline plans around 84,000 flights and 17 million seats across its European network during summer 2027, representing a 4.6% increase compared with summer 2026.
TUI will introduce 25 new routes from the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Eleven will serve destinations that are new to its network.
Together, the changes will add around 640,000 seats.
TUI has also adjusted around a third of its existing routes, changing frequencies, capacity or aircraft allocation as it concentrates resources on markets where it sees longer-term growth opportunities.
What does it mean for the Costa Blanca?
For Alicante, the immediate significance is fairly simple: more TUI capacity from Belgium should mean more seats available between the Belgian market and the Costa Blanca during summer 2027.
It is too early, however, to put a number on those additional flights.
TUI has confirmed Alicante as one of the Spanish destinations receiving extra Belgian services, but detailed frequencies and departure airports have yet to follow.
That makes this another piece of Alicante Airport’s expanding 2027 schedule rather than a brand-new route announcement.
And with airlines already adding and extending connections for next year, the departures board is getting busier well before summer 2027 arrives.
