For the first time, ITA Airways will operate flights between Alicante and Rome Fiumicino Airport, strengthening connections between the Costa Blanca and the Italian capital.

The new seasonal route launches on 18 July and runs until 30 September. Flights will operate twice a week, on Saturdays and Sundays.

Departures from Alicante are scheduled for 13:50, arriving in Rome at 15:50. The return flight leaves Rome at 10:40 and lands back on the Costa Blanca at 12:50.

This new route forms part of a broader summer push by the Lufthansa Group.

Airlines such as Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines and Eurowings have already added new connections from Alicante.

Flights Alicante to Rome: Competitive route

The Alicante–Rome route is already well served by carriers like Ryanair, Vueling and Wizz Air.

However, ITA Airways is aiming a little further. Through its Rome hub, passengers can connect to long-haul destinations across its wider international network, turning a simple city hop into a potential gateway across the globe.

More Mediterranean connections

The airline says the new route responds to strong summer demand while reinforcing its presence in key Mediterranean destinations.

Alongside Alicante, ITA Airways will also launch seasonal routes to Málaga, Valencia and Marseille.
