Grab your running shoes, El Campello has a new race on the calendar. On Sunday 26 April, the town hosts its first ever cross trail race through the natural area of Puntes de Gosálvez.

If it goes to plan, this could become a regular fixture for runners across the Costa Blanca.

El Campello: Cross trail race with a view

The route covers 11 km and takes runners through one of the more scenic parts of the area, with a mix of tracks and natural trails.

It is designed to be accessible, so you do not need to be a seasoned trail runner to take part. If you are used to road running and fancy trying something different, this is a good place to start.

Expect a bit of variety underfoot and some decent coastal views along the way.

Early start

Things get going early. Race numbers can be collected between 08:00 and 08:45, with the first start at 09:00 for walkers and Nordic walking participants.

There are categories for all ages, from younger runners right through to over 70s, so it is very much open to everyone.

A race with a good cause

This is not just about the running. The event also has a charity element, raising funds for Aspasión, which supports people with intellectual disabilities.

There is also a clean-up initiative happening alongside the race.

Last chance to sign up

Entry costs €13 if you register in advance online at grupobotons.es. Late sign-ups are available on the day for €17 between 08:00 and 08:45.

All participants will receive a race pack including a T-shirt, gym bag, drinks and a few extras to keep you going.
