Air Serbia will launch a new direct route between Alicante and Belgrade on 1 June, giving the Costa Blanca another connection with Eastern Europe.

The Serbian national airline will operate flights between Alicante-Elche Airport and the Serbian capital twice a week.

Air Serbia expands Costa Blanca connections

The new route strengthens Alicante-Elche Airport’s growing links with Eastern Europe. The market has become increasingly important for the Costa Blanca tourism sector in recent years.

Wizz Air previously operated the Alicante to Belgrade route and attracted strong demand. The connection helped increase visitor numbers from the Balkans and nearby countries.

Air Serbia has now taken over the route with a larger long-term commitment.

Alicante to Belgrade route will continue year-round

Air Serbia originally planned the service as a summer-only route between June and October. However, the airline has now confirmed it will continue flights throughout the year.

The company says strong demand and confidence in the route influenced the decision.

The Costa Blanca Tourist Board has also promoted the region heavily in Serbia and other Eastern European countries. The campaign forms part of a wider strategy to attract visitors from new markets outside traditional tourism areas such as the UK, Germany and Scandinavia.

Alicante to Belgrade flight schedule

Flights between Alicante and Belgrade will operate on Mondays and Fridays using an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Monday flights will leave Alicante at 21:05 and arrive in Belgrade shortly before midnight.

Friday services will depart Alicante at 10:00am and land in Belgrade at 12:45.

In the opposite direction, Monday flights will leave Belgrade at 17:10 and arrive at Alicante-Elche Airport at 20:20.

Friday departures from Belgrade will leave at around 06:00 and land in Alicante at 09:15.

Air Serbia calls Alicante route a strategic connection

Air Serbia commercial director Boško Rupić previously described the Alicante route as a “strategic connection”.

The airline wants to strengthen its position in one of Europe’s fastest-growing tourism markets.
