Alcoy’s municipal swimming pools have opened for the summer season with a major change that bathers will need to know about before heading for a dip.

For the first time, visitors will access the city’s public pools using QR codes, replacing the traditional ticket office system and cash payments at the entrance.

The new system is designed to speed up entry, improve security and modernise the way the facilities operate.

How the new system works

Visitors can buy single-entry tickets online using their mobile phone.

QR codes displayed at the entrance of each pool link directly to the booking platform, where users can either register an account or purchase a ticket as a guest.

Once payment has been completed, a QR access code is sent by email and can be scanned at the entrance gate.

The same system is already used successfully at other sports facilities in Alcoy, including the Eduardo Latorre sports complex.

No cash payments at the pools

One important change is that cash will no longer be accepted at the swimming pool entrances.

Anyone wishing to pay in cash must do so in advance at the Centre d’Esports offices.

Staff will provide a printed QR code, which can then be used to access the chosen pool. The code remains valid for ten days after purchase.

Season passes still available

The council will continue offering season passes, which proved popular last year with more than 1,000 sold.

Frequent swimmers can also choose from 20-visit and 50-visit passes, which offer better value than purchasing individual tickets.

Discounted prices remain available for large families, single-parent families, pensioners and people with disabilities.

Summer season underway

To support the summer programme, Alcoy has hired 15 lifeguards and 15 ticketing staff.
