The old town of Calpe now features a new mural that pays tribute to the town’s older residents and their role in shaping the community.

Artists created the artwork on Calle Vicente Gallart as part of an initiative to recognise the contribution of older generations and the traditions and values they have passed on.

Calpe mural: Message of gratitude

The mural includes the phrase: “Gràcies per sembrar la terra que ens ha fet créixer” (“Thank you for sowing the land that helped us grow”).

This message highlights the effort of parents and grandparents whose work helped build the town as it stands today.

The project aims to both acknowledge that contribution and add a new cultural feature to the historic centre.

Created by Valencian artists

Valencian artists Susa Alcántara and Nayra López Martos created the mural.

The wall reaches around seven metres in height, so the artists used lifting equipment to complete the piece across the full façade.

Mayor Ana Sala said projects like this improve public spaces while recognising the importance of older residents.
