The airport that doesn’t stop growing. Alicante–Elche Airport is once again strengthening its position on the commercial aviation map with the launch of new international routes to North Africa this summer.

Airline Vueling has announced two new direct connections from Alicante to the Maghreb, linking the Costa Blanca with Tangier in Morocco and Constantine in Algeria. The move forms part of the IAG group company’s wider strategy to expand its network from the airport, which also includes the extension of a popular domestic route.

The new Alicante-Tangier service will connect the province with one of North Africa’s most strategic cities, located at the meeting point of two continents.

Alicante-Elche Airport: Continued expansion

Tangier’s growing reputation as an urban, cultural, and economic hub makes it an increasingly attractive destination, while the route also reinforces the long-standing historical and social ties between the Valencian Community and northern Morocco. The direct flights will make travel between both sides of the Mediterranean quicker and more convenient.

Equally significant is the launch of direct flights between Alicante and Constantine, a city renowned for its rich history and dramatic setting. The route responds to the presence of a sizeable Algerian community in the province and will greatly improve mobility for passengers who previously had to rely on stopovers or longer journeys. With this addition, Alicante further consolidates its role as a key gateway between Spain and the Maghreb.

Domestic front

On the domestic front, Vueling has confirmed that it will extend its Alicante-Santander service throughout the summer. The route has proved highly popular in previous seasons and strengthens links between the Mediterranean coast and northern Spain, benefiting both leisure travellers and business passengers.

With new international connections and reinforced domestic services, Alicante–Elche Airport continues its steady growth, confirming its status as one of Spain’s most dynamic and well-connected airports.
